EarPhones with Mic
Apple have announced the much-anticipated iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
Physically, the new phones are quite similar to their predecessors, the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. But does that mean cases designed for the last iPhones are compatible with the new iteration?
Sadly , no. Most users upgrading to the new devices will still have to purchase new cases.
The dimensions of the new iPhones are similar enough to the old versions, but there is one notable difference: the size of the camera. Here’s a comparison of Apple’s own official iPhone cases
Certain non-Apple cases for the iPhone 6S may be compatible, but most of them likely are sized for the old device’s camera. Bryan Hynecek, VP of design at accessories company Speck, tells Quartz that while old cases “may appear to fit the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, they won’t correctly fit the new iPhone’s stereo speakers and dual camera system” and that the company also recommends a case made specifically for the new model for better protection.
To save the additional expense, you could always opt to go without a case. But that’s not a good idea people who purchase the device in its new jet black color. According to Apple, that particular colour’s “high shine may show fine micro-abrasions with use.” Read: tons of scratches.

In 1980 he produced a film Black Angel which told the tale of a knight who rescues a princess while returning home from the Crusades, and was made entirely in Scotland, at locations such as Eilean Donan Castle, Bernera Barracks at Glenelg, Loch Eck in Argyll.
It was shown in 1980 in cinemas in Europe and Australia as part of screenings of The Empire Strikes Back – and became a cult classic.
Now he is going to return to the Highlands to turn Black Angel into a full length film.
He said: “I have to film in Scotland, and in late September and early October as I did the first time.
“The quality of the natural light at that time of year in Scotland is like nothing else in the world.
“It allowed us to shoot scenes that would have required CGI, technology that was not available to us at that time.”
Christian was involved in the original Star Wars movie as well as Return of the Jedi and The Phantom Menace, as well as Alien.
The original Black Angel was found last year and made available online, ending fears that the film had been lost forever.
Visit Scotland has produced a map of film locations in Scotland .
A number of major film releases in recent years have featured well known locations in Scotland including
the Glenfinnan Viaduct, which appears in the Harry Potter movies, Glencoe, which featured in Skyfall, Braveheart and The 39 Steps, and Eilean Donan Castle, seen in Highlander and Bond movie The World Is Not Enough.
Stephen Spielberg’s latest smash hit of the BFG was filmed in Skye, the Western Isles and Orkney.

Back in 2007 I was lucky enough to capture some pictures of the Earthrace trimaran in Leith Docks , Edinburgh . This trimaran raced around the world in 65 days , powered by bio-diesel . It has a submarine design which allows it to cut through waves rather than over them. Earthrace has been criss-crossing the globe on the lookout for illegal fishing and hunting operations since 2006. The original boat was launched in 2006, and set a world record for round the world powerboat travel before it was destroyed in a collision with a Japanese whaling ship in 2010.
Now the development of Earthrace 2 has been announced . The team will attempt to create a new trimaran capable of assisting law enforcement on long-range, open-water missions.
Earthrace 2 is based on the original Earthrace and, like its predecessor, will run on renewable fuel but sport a Skysail Kite System for auxiliary power. When (or if) it sees the light of day, the new boat will serve as an operations base for the team’s missions battling wildlife crime around the world. Loaded up with a crew of 26, the larger vessel would support 28 day missions with a cruising range of 10,000 nautical miles (11,508 mi/18,520 km) at 12 knots (14 mph/22 km/h).
If it comes time to get into hot-pursuit mode, the 195-ft (60-m) boat could be pushed up to around 25 knots (29 mph/46 km/h). Alternatively, a 29-ft (9-m) Sealegs Amphibious Vessel and a Zodiac Dinghy would be hidden away within the hull, ready to be deployed if the team needs to board other boats on a mission.
Apple’s innovation may be just about to take a new twist . This year’s iPhone 7 is expected to feature a twin lens system with a standard of performance normally reserved for DSLR cameras. Apple has almost single handed transformed amateur and social photography with the top quality camera featured in successive iPhones . Now it goes one step further with a 12 megapixel camera
With the company predicting its first revenue decline in 13 years, the pressure is on to succeed with this development . The rumour goes that the new iPhone 7 will have a dual-camera system based on LinX Imaging technology. LinX cameras are 12-megapixel dual-camera system that takes two photos at the same time using each lens, then merges the images together using a proprietary algorithm.
In a unique configuration , one lens will have image stabilisation and the other will have 2x to 3x optical zoom. After purchasing the Israeli company for approximately US $20 million dollars last year . The iPhone 7 camera system will be able to perform 3D mapping, reduce noise and improve quality of shots in indoor or low light.
It’s odds on only the most expensive iPhone 7 Plus will contain this camera system. Normally new iPhones are announced in September.

Bordeaux, Aquitaine, France, €4.75m
Where Near the city of Agen and about 90 minutes by car from Toulouse and Bordeaux, both of which have international airports.
What A 16th-century château with nine bedrooms, a guest house, pool and orangery, plus 75 acres of farmland, including a walnut grove.
Why The refurbished castle retains original features such as carved and painted wooden beams, parquet flooring, fireplaces and exposed stonework.
I also took a picture using the miniature effect as you can get quite interesting results with this effect .
The sky looks a bit more interesting and there seems to be a bit of HDR going on .
My plan was to get some pictures of the castle at night which meant I had a few hours to kill before darkness fell . I went up to Kyle of Lochalsh to have a look around for anything interesting to photograph but I had no luck. Usually there are some fishing boats in the harbour but there weren’t any there .
At night the character of the castle changes . It is floodlit and takes on an orange glow .

Just when you thought Nikon had run out of ideas , up pops not one but 2 new powerful cameras with lip smacking specs . If you can’t afford £5000 for the new D5 camera , the D500 is an extremely capable alternative . The D500 has got some superb features . The 21-megapixel APS-C sensor DSLR is the successor to the D300s with a whole lot more to offer .
A 10 frames-per-second continous burst with a 79 raw image buffer depth should keep most action photographers happy .
Not so long ago Nikon didn’t do video mode very well. The jury is out as to whether they can do it well with the D500, but at least they are trying . Nikon was quiet in 2015 but now Nikon fanboys are exploding with joy at this double announcement . There is auto ISO smoothing to make ISO changes during recording smoother and a 3-axis electronic vibration reduction to create a smoother-looking video.
The D500 has 153-AF Points, 99 of them being cross type. It actually uses the same autofocusing system as the newly-announced D5.
It features ‘SnapBridge’ which allows the camera to always be connected wirelessly, doing away without the need to establish a connection everytime you need to use it. It uses Bluetooth to keep the camera connected to your smartphone constantly, which should in theory make transferring images quick and easy. Apparently, Nikon will be putting this into all future cameras that they release.
Testing this out should / would be totally cool . Please Mr Nikon , I’ll be very careful with it. I promise I won’t drop it or throw it in the river to see if it floats .
Pricing is around £1700 .
